Position:  Mechanical Technician II - Compressor Technician

Reports to:  Maintenance Supervisor

Shift:  7:00am-3:30pm, Monday - Friday, 1 week on call per month

Pay:  $35/hour+

Summary

 

Under the supervision of the Mechanical Supervisor, the primary function of the Compressor/Utility Mechanical Tech is to maintain and overhaul the plant equipment primarily in the plant air compressors, dryers, and plant utilities area. This includes repair work and upkeep of plant compressed air lines, water systems, and compressors. Address day to day plant equipment maintenance priorities with safety and improve the efficiency of the plant air systems.

 

ShapeWhat you’ll be contributing: 

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. 
  • Work directly with Compressor and Utilities Mechanical Supervisor
  • Make quality repairs and check work for accuracy and efficiency
  • Requisition parts for ongoing jobs
  • Verify parts for upcoming work with planners
  • Keep supervisors informed of any changes needed for break-ins to the daily plan
  • Keep supervisors informed if ongoing jobs would last outside of normal work schedule
  • Respond to equipment failures or problems within the system and report the timeline for the repair, parts needed and scheduling the work
  • Address the work order gaps with supervisors and planners related to the change in the job plan for updating it
  • Repair plant air lines, water lines, and compressed air lines
  • Repairs to Plant Air Compressors and Dryers, including but not limited to Valve repair, Flange repair on pneumatic lines, Compressor troubleshooting and Preventative Maintenance, etc.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor  

 

To succeed in this position, you will need: 

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required 
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Willingness to learn, training will be provided  
  • Experience in cement plant highly referred
  • Experience working in heavy industry preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on industrial compressors required, including Quincy, Kaishan, Elgi, AtlasQuincy, Kaishan, Elgi, Atlas
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic, pnuematic and electrical schematics required
  • Must be willing and able to train other maintenance technicians
  • Must be self-motivated and be efficient with time to repair equipment while maintaining safety as the highest priority. Keep all break times to allocated amount and report to distribution in a timely manner after morning meetings and breaks.

 

What to expect in a cement environment:

 

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
