PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position involves supervising the performance of earth work, grading, milling, paving along with associated traffic control needs.  Installation of storm drainage, sanitary sewer and water mains for various construction projects.  Knowledge of directing a crew size of 4 to 6 people, organizing material deliveries with an emphasis on Safety required.

 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  1. Safe and efficient completion of various Town and State of Connecticut DOT projects.  Grading and compaction along with paving in support of the Construction Division.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
  2. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  3. Ability to perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  4. Ability to perform work in daytime and nighttime conditions.

 

 

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

 

Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA and state agencies.  Protective equipment that is required for this position:  Hardhat, safety glasses, reinforced toed shoes, hand protection, hearing protection, safety/vest high visibility clothing for any work in the field.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust to focus, and operate various pieces of equipment.

 

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
