The Project Manager in Training supports project planning, coordination, and execution while developing the skills needed to independently manage projects. This role is designed for individuals beginning their project management career and offers hands‑on experience working with cross‑functional teams, timelines, budgets, and project documentation.
Essential Duties:
- Direct, coordinate, and oversee all phases of construction projects, ensuring seamless planning, organization, and execution from start to finish.
- Travel to prospective sites, assess current conditions, and build strong relationships with site owners and their representatives.
- Maintain ongoing communication with owners, contractors, and engineers.
- Track project quantities at every phase, adjusting as necessary to ensure precision and efficiency.
- Generate key reports for leadership, providing valuable project updates and insights.
- Establish clear project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards in alignment with company values.
- Monitor project progress through close collaboration with on-site Superintendents, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Proactively address and resolve challenges with creative solutions.
- Represent the company at client and strategy meetings, serving as a knowledgeable and persuasive ambassador.
- Oversee contract financials, including fee payments, equipment rentals, and project expenses, balancing company interests with client satisfaction.
- Take on additional leadership responsibilities as needed.
Education/ Experience
- Hands-on construction experience, background in management is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, motivate, and lead teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- In-depth understanding of industry practices, standards, and their direct impact on project success.
- Proficiency with bidding and project management software.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and criminal background check.
- Commitment to safety strict adherence to all safety requirements and company policies, including PPE and OSHA regulations.
- Willingness to travel, work nights and weekends as required, and adapt to changing project needs.
