Position Overview

This is a Part-Time role, as the Sales Assistant assists with the quotation, sale, and delivery of products, ensuring customer needs are met efficiently and professionally.

 

Wage Range: $21-$23 per hour, dependent upon experience. 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding orders, products, and delivery status; relay information to relevant departments as needed.
  • Assist in soliciting orders from current and potential customers for the sale and delivery of construction and building materials.
  • Work with customers to confirm order accuracy and advise on appropriate product usage.
  • Help calculate order quantities to assist the production team with scheduling and ensure accurate delivery timing for customers.
  • Participate in pre-construction or pre-installation meetings as required, taking notes and sharing critical information with relevant teams.
  • Work with customers and internal teams to address questions or issues related to products and services.
  • Support the resolution of product or delivery discrepancies by coordinating with appropriate personnel.
  • Help complete standard forms and documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Perform other duties or projects within Sales or related departments as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in sales, customer service, or the construction/building materials industry preferred.

Work Requirements

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to use email and order entry systems.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations related to product pricing, quantities, and measurements.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening processes, which may include a physical, drug test, and background check.
  • Adherence to company safety guidelines and policies is essential.
  • Must demonstrate punctuality and professionalism in dress and conduct.
  • Willingness to work independently or as part of a team and assist with additional duties as needed.
  • Availability for occasional travel or off-site work may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone, email, and in person.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as order tickets, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
  • Regular use of hands for computer and administrative tasks; frequent walking and sitting; occasional standing and reaching.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move items up to 25 pounds; rarely up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity required for computer work and reading documents.
