About the Role

We’re looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Credit Control Manager to shape and enhance the Credit Control function at our site in Sheffield. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance | UK & Aisa, this will be a hands-on role and will require the ability to implement robust credit management practices to support continued growth and financial resilience, strengthen internal working relationships and provide accurate reporting and forecasting information.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of the company’s credit control function, ensuring the credit worthiness of debtors and the timely collection of outstanding amounts.
  • Motivate and encourage a team of Credit Controllers to drive efficiencies and proactively work towards collection targets.
  • Play a hands-on role in the day-to-day operations of the credit and collections process, ensuring accurate and efficient payment allocations, reconciliations and query resolution.
  • Implement and develop effective credit policies and procedures to reduce overdue debt and bad debt exposure.
  • Conduct credit risk assessments and set appropriate credit limits for new and existing clients.
  • Produce and maintain an accurate weekly aged debtor report with analysis and commentary for review with the UK Finance Director.
  • Build and develop trusting and professional relationships with key account clients to ensure prompt payment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sales and Operations teams to enhance internal relationships and effectively resolve billing or service-related disputes.
  • Monitor and analyse key metrics such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) implement and drive improvement strategies to enhance productivity.
  • Lead, support and encourage continual improvement projects to ensure best practice and efficiency across the department.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience of working as a Credit Control Manager, ideally within a group or larger business environment.
  • The ability to develop, motivate and oversee a team of Credit Controllers.
  • A strong understanding of credit risk management principles, debt recovery and financial reporting.
  • The ability to present financial results and support findings, challenging any conflicting information.
  • Proven ability to manage large or complex ledgers with multiple customers and contract types.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven results in delivering effective continuous improvements
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate data accordingly and as required.
  • Strong computerised systems skills (previous experience of Infor M3 is highly advantageous although by no means essential)
  • A commercially minded approach to the role and duties.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise the tasks and Key Responsibilities
