About the role

 

We are currently looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Production Manager to join our Production site based in Sheffield, UK.

The role is responsible for:

  • Promoting an actively engaged culture striving to continuously improve Health & Safety and to champion a safety first environment. ​
  • Actively managing and improving the running of a production business unit producing made to stock, made to order and engineered to order, concrete reinforcement products, on a number of production lines and product groups in short lead times. ​
  • Being accountable for the full customer service life cycle including delivery, cost and quality.​

 

Main responsibilities

 

In this role you'll:

 

  • Carry out daily H&S and CI gemba walks, challenging and promoting H&S and CI culture through a positive reinforcement, coaching, ethos. ​
  • Strive for a zero harm environment through continuous improvement of shop floor activities. ​
  • Create and maintain a team structure to deliver the highest possible standards in H&S, 5S and customer service through a structured approach to recruitment, target setting, review and development. ​
  • Promote and attend daily SQDCIP meetings with team to drive and report on performance and ongoing projects. ​
  • Deliver agreed Op Ex projects through regular review and management of resources within your area and develop new Op Ex opportunities through robust, well defined and costed cap ex submissions. ​
  • Lead by example and continuously challenging for better performance. ​
  • Lead the entire team within your production unit. ​
  • Interpret key KPI information and reporting regularly on key performance metrics. ​
  • Hold poor performance to account and take corrective action where necessary.​
  • Uphold the key business principals throughout your area. ​
  • Not accept the “status quo” and be prepared to take the difficult decisions where necessary. ​
  • Actively collaborate and support other production areas and wider business. ​
  • Take part in and actively promote a “one business” culture. ​
  • Be willing to visit other areas of Leviat and actively promote and take part in development projects. ​
  • Continuously strive to reduce cost where possible but not at the cost of H&S or performance. ​

 

Experience & qualifications

 

To be successful in this role you'll need:

 

Knowledge of H&S culture and striving for zero harm. ​

Demonstrable experience in a Production Management position with accountability for at least 40 employees and supervisory staff.  ​

Experience of development and delivery of SQDCIP system.​

Experience of effective deployment of production management resources. ​

Experience of manufacturing engineering processes and improvements including applicable knowledge of VSM​

To understand the key elements of employment procedures. ​

​Proven knowledge of engineering principles​

Experience of conducting feasibility studies, submitting justification proposals, purchasing and implementation of equipment.​

Basic Engineering and manufacturing knowledge.​

A proven track record of identifying, leading and participating in improvement projects through application of operational excellence.​

To be capable of accurately scoping out projects, creating logical work steps and using time and resources effectively.​

The ability to make good timely decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement without need for constant support.​

Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.​

Experience of setting challenging targets, monitoring performance, giving feedback and coaching.​

Automation experience​ (desirable)

Knowledge of SCADA or electronic production monitoring systems eg Ignition. ​(desirable)

Engineering Degree or equivalent​ (desirable)

Multi business experience of managing and improving manufacturing teams and processes (desirable) ​
