About the role

 

We're currently lookng for an ambitious and enthusiastic SHE Engineer to join our team based in Sheffield on a Fixed Term Contract basis until May 2025.

In this role you'll provide practical and hands on health and safety support and assistance to the Sheffield site and assist in the ongoing maintenance of our internal safety and environmental management systems to ISO45001 & ISO14001.

In addition, you'll provide support to the Sheffield maintenance team with regards controlling contractor activity on site, maintaining maintenance and statutory records, and assisting with administration of the PPM schedule

 

 

Main responsibilities

 

In this role you'll:

 

  • Assist in maintaining company SHE management systems in accordance with ISO14001 and ISO45001. Perform inspections and audits as appropriate, and take a proactive stance in resolving highlighted issues
  • Ensure all teams and production processes adhere to SHE systems via active liaison and face to face interaction
  • Assist in accident and near miss investigations, and help ensure that root causes are established and appropriate actions put in place to prevent recurrence
  • Assist in delivery of new starter inductions
  • Ensure all SHE & maintenance records are properly maintained in line with statutory and management system requirements
  • Assist maintenance in contractor control activities including pre qualification, assessment of RAMS packs, completing contractor inductions, completion of permits to work and spot checks of contractor activities as required
  • Assist other members of the team and production front line leaders in day to day maintenance of health & safety and environmental management systems including aiding production of risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Assist the SHEQ team during third party audits, taking an active role as required
  • Assist in the development of SHE systems as required for specific special projects, new equipment and production lines including risk assessments, safe systems of work, machine inspection records, LTT instructions etc
  • Assist maintenance in administration of planned preventive maintenance activities, ensuring all records are properly maintained
  • Support our waste management processes and ensure that wastes are correctly segregated, stored and collected in timely fashion by reputable waste carriers
  • Arrange and coordinate of ongoing health screening of the workforce including occupational health checks, vibration monitoring, prescription eyewear etc
  • Maintain high quality records of all required elements of our SHE systems
     

Experience & qualifications

 

To be successful in this role you'll need:

 

  • Experience in working in manufacturing sector 
  • To be competent in MS Office suite.
  • The ability to work on multiple tasks and work cross-functionally to identify issues and implement solutions and improvements
  • Knowledge of waste streams, energy conservation and environmental management principles (deirable)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Practical experience of implementing SHE systems, performing risk assessments, producing safe systems of work etc
  • A qualification in internal auditing (deisrable)
  • A safety related qualification (IOSH / NEBOSH etc)
  • To be First Aid trained (desirable)
