Position Overview

 

This position is a key leadership role in the West Division Finance team.  The successful candidate will be expected to have significant experience in SOX policies and procedures in a public company.  As the SOX Compliance Coordinator for the Northwest Region, you will provide leadership, training and oversight to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures and support a strong internal control environment. 


Key Responsibilities in addition to the role of SOX Compliance Coordinator
 

  • Coordinate audit requests and documentation for both internal and external audits.
  • Prepare sales tax returns for Washington and Idaho; provide sales tax training and oversight; maintain sales tax rates in database; coordinate sales tax audits as required.
  • Prepare property tax returns for Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana; prepare Idaho transient returns.
  • Participate in the monthly close process and financial statement preparation to ensure accurate and timely reporting to the West Division and CRH Americas Materials.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations monthly.
  • Maintain the property management system.
  • Administer the company purchasing card program.
  • Provide analytical support and ad hoc reporting to Finance and Operations by utilizing Excel queries and Hyperion reports.
  • Prepare information and analysis required to prepare budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide backup and support on fixed assets accounting and reporting to include IFRS16 leases.
  • Collaborate with other team members to recommend process improvements and develop best practices.
  • Communicate positively and effectively with members of Finance and Operations to ensure accurate information is received and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Assure that the assigned daily operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives.
  • Strict adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley and company policies.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a finance/accounting role.
  • Prior experience in a strong internal control environment with a focus on SOX compliance required.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel including extracting data and writing queries.
  • Prior experience in Washington and Idaho sales tax preferred.
  • Prior experience with Public Works Contract Clearance a plus.
  • Manufacturing or construction accounting background a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
  • Self-Motivated and effective communication skills required.
  • Strong desire to learn, grow and develop within the organization.
