Position Overview

Provide administrative support of day-to-day Human Resource operations.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Provide support and guidance through full cycle recruitment to include:
    • Post position
    • Schedule and participate in the interview process
    • Coordinate and schedule preemployment appointment(s)
    • Conduct new employee orientation
    • Ensure necessary paperwork is accurately completed
  • Responds to reference checks, verification of employment status, and unemployment
  • General office administration: setup and maintain all personnel files, medical files, DOT driver qualification files and related documentation; file termination and file room maintenance; inventory and maintain adequate supply of forms, handbooks, and manuals used in the department; responsible for process and coding of all invoices related to benefits, pre-employment, and drug testing.
  • DOT administration: maintain and track effective dates, renewal dates and expiration dates for driver licenses, DOT physicals, and endorsements; conduct annual review of MVRs for all DOT drivers; prepare and distribute FMCSA inspection reports; manage annual driver certifications; update and maintain DOT files regularly; and complete DOT verifications of employment.
  • Assist with Human Resource training
  • Administer the employee recognition program
  • Observe confidentiality of company information; written and verbal
  • Observe Company safety standards and maintain a safe work environment
  • Perform other HR as required and assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus one year of office/clerical support experience preferred.
  • Previous HR experience and/or recent graduate in a related field highly preferred.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Demonstrates good performance, safety and attendance.
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational, customer service, and telephone skills.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office applications: i.e. Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with all departments and customers on the phone and in person.
