Position Overview

As part of the global diversified building materials group, CRH is currently recruiting for the position of Regional Controller within the Northwest Region based in Spokane, WA. The successful candidate will be expected to bring significant experience to the role and will gain a comprehensive understanding of the processes underlying the production of financial and management supporting information for a public company.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Oversee and participate in monthly financial reporting, consolidation process, and variance analysis; including financial statement preparation and review as well as management reporting and analysis, and balance sheet account reconciliation.
  • Maintain strong internal control environment to safeguard company assets and employees, ensuring compliance with SOX and other control processes and appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with CRH Americas Materials and Northwest Region accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee equipment/fixed asset accounting, reporting, capex preparation, and related analytics.
  • Ensure compliance with tax rules/regulations and timely/accurate tax reporting for sales/use, real/personal property, fuel, and asset licensing.
  • Partner with management to provide analytical support for improving financial performance, working capital management and key initiative achievement.
  • Lead and manage accounting staff for assigned operational areas, providing oversight and direction as needed, including hands-on assistance as appropriate.
  • Lead and/or assist in preparation of local and regional budget and forecasting processes.
  • Prepare various Regional, Divisional, and National reports as required.
  • Liaising with external and internal auditors.
  • Develop, mentor and lead accounting staff to further their development and strengthen the finance organization.
  • Foster a success-oriented, continuous improvement environment within the organization.
  • Observe safety standards and maintain safe work environment.
  • Observe confidentiality of company information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Qualified Accountant or equivalent (e.g. CPA or CA) a plus


Work Requirements

  • Strong financial background essential
  • 4 or more years’ experience in construction or manufacturing in accounting for a publicly traded company preferred.
  • Management experience a plus


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of reporting processes and confidence in preparing financial reports along with the evaluation of major capital expenditure projects and acquisitions

  • Ability to utilize a computer for email communication, work processing, preparation of documents and other similar tasks
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time
