Position Overview

This is a skilled position with a primary responsibility to manage Ready Mix Drivers scheduled time off, call in times and payroll.



Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Responsible for Ready Mix Department safety policy implementation, including pre and post incident management.  Safety documentation control and updating policies and communication of those policies.
  • Supervise department with responsibility for all Dispatch employees to include time off, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, hiring or firing, training, empowerment and setting of expectations  
  • Monitor closely and measure all departmental goals and policies as set forth by the company
  • Schedule at least once a quarter, a meeting with all the Dispatch staff to go over issues, problems, or changes within the department. 
  • Build and nurture strong customer confidence in the department and establish good business working relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Encourage sound ordering practices with customers and promote improved service
  • Accommodate the customers’ requests and negotiate acceptable delivery times without losing the order
  • Monitor orders, tracking and scheduling and adjust to maintain service while best utilizing drivers and equipment. 
  • Track the progress of orders at all dispatch areas and direct truck movement between dispatchers as deems necessary to maintaining service in those areas.
  • Schedule all plant and driver safety meetings in coordination with the Driver Supervisor. 
  • Maintain information in the dispatch system that is pertinent to the effective running of the Customer Service operations, and handle all departmental reporting to upper management (Customer Service Report, the Rejected or Lost Load Report, the Lost Order Report, and the Customer Complaint Log) 
  • Direct dispatchers when to close plants because of lack of work and help reschedule orders to other locations. 
  • Direct dispatchers on the handling of rejected loads as to whether they will be dumped or resold and if the customer will be billed for the load. 
  • Direct dispatch personnel to call customers if there are questions on their orders or if service will be late or interrupted. 
  • Be available as a resource after hours for scheduling changes and/or as a customer or plant after hour contact
  • Other duties as assigned

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.  
  • Should be comfortable using Windows Operating system. Microsoft Office apps such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
