Job Title:  Manufacturing Manager-Extrusion (EPMM255)

Reports to: Extrusion /Anodizing Manager

 

Oldcastle Building Envelope has an exciting opportunity for an Extrusion Manager to join the team at our Terrell, Texas facility.  We are looking for a motivated, hands-on leader who wants the opportunity to make a positive impact on the operation and improve reliability throughout the plant. This position will be responsible for Safety, Employee Relations, Production, Quality, Process Improvement and Scheduling commitments. 

 

Primary Function: The Terrell Extrusion operation consist of two extrusion presses along with supporting material handling support.  The operation is 24 hours – 7 days a week utilizing four 12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule.  The Extrusion Manager is primarily a day shift position but requires interaction with all crews.  The position is accountable for the overall management of the Extrusion Department in the Metal Processing Operation including direction of the shift supervisors.  While working with the Extrusion Tooling Manager, the position focuses on the day to day operations of the extrusion department including improvement activities (OpEx), 5S and schedule performance.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have 10 years’ experience with manufacturing preferably in the architectural aluminum industry.
  • Must have management experience.
  • Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.  Experience with EPICS and ERP systems is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a consistent frequency.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing with both office and plant personnel.
  • Train, coach and mentor personnel on the shop floor, thus spending extended periods of time at the extrusion press.
  • Team player within the entire organization and able to relate to others.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of this job.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervising, training, developing, mentoring and assisting the extrusion department staff.  Assessing their capabilities and maximizing their effectiveness.
  • Review of new shapes in the design phase, advise on needed changes, work with the die shop on the details of how dies have ran at the extrusion press. 
  • Review of existing shapes and dies for yield and productivity improvement.
  • Assess and coordinate with die vendors to achieve goal of die running the first time as received.
  • Develop standards for when dies need to run to a set recipe.
  • Work with the tooling team on problem dies and overall process improvement.
  • Experience with Optilex, Ignition PLC/Machine Interface and Six Sigma are a plus.
