Position: Production Lead

Shift: Varies

Pay: $32/hour+

Summary:

 

To lead and coordinate the daily activities of the plant, meeting quantity and quality of products within specifications and costs as set by the plant.  Run the plant operation (control room) optimizing production and maintain all quality and operational targets set by the plant.    

                                                                            

What you'll be contributing:

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. 

  • Directs the daily activities of employees working on shift. 

  • Coordinates plant activities to meet production, sales, and distribution needs. 

  • Be a safety leader and drive housekeeping efforts in the plant. 

  • Ensures equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner and is routinely inspected for defects (follow up on all check sheets). 

  • Performs all first level inspections throughout the plant. 

  • Creates work requests and passes information over to plant maintenance personnel. 

  • Completes daily Visual Emission checks and documents findings. 

  • Ensures effective troubleshooting of any problems in the department using direct reports and ensure problems are repaired as quickly as possible to minimize downtime and/or upsets. 

  • Works with Production Supervisor to set plans to operate within budget. 

  • Understands plant polices and works within this agreement. 

  • Meets environmental requirements including fugitive dust. 

  • Ensures compliance with all safety policies, procedures and applicable laws. 

  • Reports on accidents / incidents assuming follow-up as per procedure. 

  • Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures and standards (ASTM, CSA, MQO, internal targets and limits), as they pertain to this position. 

  • Ensure mill operation and products shipped are within agreed upon specs for Quality.   

  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required. 
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.

  • Willingness to learn, training will be provided  

  • Minimum of 3 years experience demonstrated progression of increased responsibility.  
  • Preferred 1 year in Supervisory role.
  • Preferred experience in a cement plant or other heavy industry.  
  • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understands warning labels, instructions, and signs 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.  

  • Well developed leadership capabilities.  

  • Good troubleshooting, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills 

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
