About the Role
CRH Americas Materials is seeking a Transportation Director to join our Virginia business unit, based in southwest Virginia. This is a key leadership role for someone who enjoys building strong teams, improving delivery operations, and creating a positive customer experience. In this position, you will help lead the customer service and dispatch functions, support efficient scheduling and delivery, and partner closely with drivers, haulers, operations, sales, quality control, and business leaders to keep our customers and teams moving forward.
Overall Responsibilities:
· Promote a safe work environment by following and reinforcing company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
· Help drive positive change across the organization by improving processes, communication, and team performance.
· Lead, coach, and develop Customer Service Representatives and Dispatch team members.
· Set clear goals and performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and support team member growth and accountability.
· Oversee the daily activities of the dispatch team and help ensure smooth, consistent service across the business unit.
· Partner with the VP/GM, sales, quality control, and operations teams to understand customer needs, job requirements, and project expectations.
· Coordinate deliveries with company drivers and third-party haulers to provide timely, reliable service to customers.
· Build strong relationships with customers, drivers, haulers, and internal partners through clear communication and follow-through.
· Work to accommodate customer requests, resolve scheduling challenges, and identify solutions that support both customer service and operational efficiency.
· Monitor daily orders, schedules, and fleet utilization, making adjustments as needed to keep deliveries on track.
· Plan effective delivery routes and assign haulers and drivers to support scheduled deliveries.
· Prepare invoices, delivery tickets, shipping documents, and other related records accurately and on time.
· Process plant production tickets and received goods tickets as part of daily operational support.
· Maintain consistent, reliable attendance and availability to support business needs.
· Be available to provide support during overnight or weekend operations when needed.
· Support other related duties as needed to help the team and business succeed.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent related experience.
· At least 5 years of experience in materials delivery, transportation, dispatch, logistics, or a closely related field, with working knowledge of delivery operations and plant equipment.
Compensastion
- Base Salary $105,000 - $125,000 (based on candidate qualifications and prior experience)
