Materials Supervisor

Job Summary

The Materials Supervisor oversees and coordinates daily warehouse activities such as receiving RAW material, hardware, and returns, storing goods, managing inventory levels & accuracy, supervising staff, and securing the warehouse. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy, safe & protected storage, and organization of all inventories.
• Ensure and audit placement of goods in the correct locations.
• Monitor and instruct Material Handlers on appropriate locations and placement of materials in the warehouse.
• Perform, monitor, evaluate, correct cycle counting of warehouse locations.
• Controls movement & accuracy of scrapped raw material.
• Ensure movement transactions are accurate and timely.
• Motivate, support, and provide guidance to warehouse staff.
• Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep the organization accident free.
• Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting warehouse or shipping.
• Completes routine reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Reports include best practice reports, cycle counts, scrap reports, material transfers, etc.
• Ensuring adequate scheduling & training of staff.
• Enforce SOPs & support coaching, counseling, discipline as required.
• Strong participation in regular physical inventory events.
• May supervise warehouse personnel.

Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job.

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

To be considered for the Materials Supervisor position, the following conditions must be met:

• Read and perform mathematical calculations and measurements with numbers, fractions, and decimals normally acquired through high school education or equivalency.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and housekeeping.
• Minimum of two years warehouse experience
• Able to learn geometric shapes and part numbers of product line.
• Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload & work with minimal supervision
• Must be able to communicate effectively & conduct themselves professionally, excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate skills in MS Office including Excel, Word & Access.
• Prior experience using windows-based software & MRP systems.
