We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our Central and Eastern Europe division (CEE) at CRH based in Warsaw, Poland. This role will be part of the Data Science team that operates within Industry 4.0 solutions that we provide for our cement, asphalt, and ready-mix businesses. The focus is mainly on optimizing fuel and electricity consumption and reducing the overall CO2 footprint.

This is a full-time permanent position that offers a flexible hybrid role model, allowing you to work both from the office and at home. The role will also require approximately 10% travel to various operational sites, conferences, and meetings.

Main Responsibilities
 

Reporting directly to the CEE Data Science Manager (Industry 4.0), the primary focus of the Data Scientist role will be to optimise energy consumption and enhance production stability. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

 

  • Creation and maintaining existing Python ML applications.
  • Building custom data models and algorithms to solve technical challenges.
  • Utilising predictive and detection modelling to enhance production processes and monitoring.
  • Developing processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy.
  • Reviewing solutions proposed by third-party startups.
  • Providing internal consulting on Machine Learning solutions within CRH

Experience and Qualifications

 

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience with cloud services like Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.
  • Experience with SQL and databases / data warehouses like Snowflake
  • 3+ years' experience with Python programming language. Experience with python data science packages - such as pandas, numpy, sklearn, xgboost etc.
  • Experience in leveraging AI and ML techniques to solve real life industrial challenges
  • Ability to work in international setting and multinational teams
  • A strong communicator. Explaining complex technical concepts to product managers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you
