Job Summary

 

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for performing routine and repetitive accounting and bookkeeping duties associated with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and billing functions following established procedures to accomplish duties.  This position includes numerous reporting functions and is responsible for many month-end closing activities.  Several responsibilities are shared between the Accounting team.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Works collaboratively with the Accounting team and is cross trained in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other accounting functions
  • Assists in month-end close
  • Reviews and processes accounts payable invoices with appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
  • Prints and obtains signatures on accounts payable checks, processes ACH vendor payments
  • Processes customer credit card and ACH payments
  • Assists with Accounts Receivable activities including contacting customers, payment application, and reviewing sales tax,
  • Answers vendor inquires relating to invoices
  • Maintains accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and other payable files
  • Reconciles monthly incoming vendor statements and, when applicable, calls vendors concerning any discrepancies
  • Prepares analysis of accounts and daily reports
  • Creates and sends out customer invoices
  • Performs filing, scanning and copying of documents
  • Conform with and abide by all policies and work procedures and instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

 

To be considered for an Accounting Assistant position, the following conditions must be met:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years accounting related experience; accounting degree preferred.
  • Intermediate or above skill level in Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
