Job Summary
We are seeking a Rebar Fabrication Lead to direct and optimize our steel department within our advanced precast manufacturing facility. Unlike traditional, grueling outdoor field "rod-busting" leadership roles, you will run a fully sheltered, highly modernized indoor shop.
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you will be the driving force behind our steel department. You will manage everyday workflow, interpret blueprints, and train our team of Fabrication Associates through our structured multi-stage career path. If you are a skilled fabricator with strong blueprint reading skills and a passion for mentoring others in a modern, safe environment, this is your next step.
What Makes This Position Different
- 100% Sheltered Indoor Work: Run a clean, controlled manufacturing shop. Stay completely out of the freezing winter cold, blistering summer heat, rain, and mud.
- Advanced Equipment Leadership: Lead a team utilizing specialized fabrication jigs and best-in-class, lightweight, battery-operated automatic tying guns (Max TwinTier). No manual plier tying means higher efficiency and less physical wear on your team.
- Ergonomic & Efficient Workspace: Oversee an environment designed around elevated workstations and automated machinery (automated shear lines, radius benders, and angle benders) built to maximize output while minimizing physical fatigue.
Job Responsibilities
- Production Coordination: Partner with the Production Manager to align everyday schedules, assigning tasks to department personnel so that all engineered steel designs are fabricated at least one day prior to scheduled production.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Act as the shop’s primary technical resource. Read and interpret steel design drawings, collaborate directly with the Engineering team to resolve discrepancies, and communicate details clearly to the floor.
- Team Training & Development: Mentor and train Fabrication Associates through our 3-Stage Career Path—guiding them from basic cage assembly using automatic tying tools to advanced layout and power machinery operation.
- Quality Assurance & Safety: Examine work progress and inspect completed cage designs with attached accessories before they hit the production floor to verify total accuracy. Ensure all fabrication machinery and its integrated safety features operate perfectly.
- Process Improvement: Continuously monitor shop workflows to identify opportunities to improve department efficiency, eliminate material waste, and reduce production costs.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in steel reinforcement, structural fabrication, or precast manufacturing environments.
- Technical Skills: Proven expertise operating structural fabrication machinery, specifically automated rebar shears/cutters, radius benders, and angle benders.
- Blueprint Mastery: Advanced ability to read, write, and flawlessly interpret complex steel design drawings, shop blueprints, bend sheets, and structural specifications.
- Leadership Aptitude: Strong capability to prioritize tasks, organize shifting production demands, manage personnel schedules, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Production Management).
- Core Requirements: Basic math proficiency (fractions, measurements), strong working knowledge of precision hand rulers/tape measures, and legal authorization to work in the United States.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $28-$31/hour
- 401(k) plan / group retirement savings program
- Short-term and long-term disability benefits

- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off
