As a Transportation Construction Dispatcher, you will be responsible for coordinating freight vendors, managing order intake, and ensuring smooth execution of construction activities. This role requires strong organizational skills, proactive communication, and a commitment to safety and compliance.
In alignment with our Construction job site activities, the Transportation Construction Dispatcher will be required to work the afternoon shift.
Position Responsibilities (Key duties, scope of position and expectations):
Dispatch & Order Coordination:
Schedule and dispatch various truck types for paving, grinding, shouldering, and other construction activities.
Ensure trucks arrive on time and load efficiently at designated plants.
Support and cover as required other dispatch & order taking functions
Closely monitor on time delivery & customer communication
Respond to customer inquiries and provide customers with updated information regarding their deliveries in an efficient and professional manner.
Handle customer concerns/inquiries, troubleshooting service and quality related issues; providing real-time solutions to satisfy the customer’s needs.
TREAD (TMS) onboarding, accessibility, compliancy, and utilization. Ensure all vendors and foremen have access to Tread, are properly onboarded, and are using the system correctly in accordance with company procedures.
Operational Oversight:
Monitor job site progress and address trucking changes or cancellations promptly.
Manage truck utilization and efficiency.
Maintain real-time communication with site supervisors, plant operators, vendors, and order takers to ensure seamless execution.
Safety & Compliance:
Verify vendor compliance with safety protocols and technology requirements.
Act as a safety ambassador, promoting adherence to construction job site policies & standards.
Act as the conduit between the job site and the Transportation Safety Coordinator.
Collaboration & Leadership:
Serve as the “Tread Ambassador,” fostering collaboration between site supervisors, vendors, and order takers.
Monitor vendor compliance and usage related to TREAD.
Organize regular check-in meetings to review job site analytics, share feedback, and implement corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
Track performance metrics and identify opportunities for operational efficiency.
Encourage open communication and feedback to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction.
Experience & Educational Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in dispatching within construction, aggregates, concrete, paving, logistics, or a related heavy-equipment environment.
Proven experience coordinating multiple trucks/equipment in a fast-paced setting.
Experience working with construction sites, trucking fleets, or vendors.
Customer service background, with experience in order taking and customer triage
Material, company geographical footprint, and vendor knowledge preferred
Proficiency with dispatching systems, GPS tracking tools or fleet management software
Performance KPIs:
On-Time Dispatch Rate: 95% of trucks dispatched and arriving on schedule.
Job Site Compliance: 100% vendor compliance with safety and technology standards.
Change/Cancellation Response Time: Adjust schedules within 15 minutes of notification.
Customer Satisfaction: Maintain a minimum score of 90% in post-job feedback surveys.
Communication Efficiency: Weekly check-in meetings held with documented action plans.
Operational Accuracy: Less than 2% error rate in dispatching and scheduling activities.
Vendor Engagement: Quarterly compliance reviews completed for all active vendors.
