Role:

Identify and enable opportunities for cost reductions, cost avoidance and service improvements. Define and execute procurement tactics to achieve these benefits. Build strong and effective relationships both with internal customers, the local/regional category team and external suppliers to create the framework for the implementation of procurement initiatives and processes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Increase awareness of Procurement Best Practices and facilitate change throughout the Business
  • Act as the single point of contact the business and suppliers on supply matters related to your domains, co-develop, and execute procurement tactics for your domain
  • Purchase request transaction processing, Purchase Order (PO) closure/Amendments, Goods Receipt (GR) related request, Delivery Status, PO process related general topics and Query Handling
  • Controlling of defined purchasing policies
  • Deliver cost savings and other procurement benefits (as defined in the Category Plan)
  • Work in close cooperation with the other buyers and Local Category Manager
  • Align with other CRH geographies as needed (e.g. APAC and Americas)
  • Develop, analyze, send out & bring back spend and category information to create detailed sub-category overviews and visibility on the spend
  • Supplier communication and follow up

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business (preferred) or procurement work experience
  • 3 – 5 years of experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist
  • Excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail
  • Must be tech-savvy, including experience with Microsoft Office and other procurement software
  • An analytical mindset, with ability to manipulate data using pivot tables and vlookups
  • Strong customer service aptitude and collaboration-focused mindset
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Experience with conducting bids and/or negotiating deals for indirect spend categories
