The Accounts Payable Lead Specialist will be expected to be the subject matter expert for all aspects of the procurement invoicing process. Areas of focus will include the timely processing of invoices, training junior staff, and other strategic projects to enhance the efficiency and controls of the department. This role will report to the Accounts Payable Manager and will play a key role in ensuring the scalability of the payables processes as the company continues to grow. We are building an AP team of high performers and trusted partners who leverage data to deliver strategic insights and empower decision-making, solve problems, and mitigate risks. These teammates process invoices timely, and accurately to safeguard the company’s assets and to ensure that healthy account relationships are maintained.
Essential Duties
- Will be in charge of leading a data entry team of 5-6 AP Specialist.
- Assist in developing standardizing procedures to generate efficiency in-house.
- Be active in developing on the customer service front with assigned Plants and Suppliers and be quick and accurate with communication.
- Serve as the point of escalation for all past due invoices within the Team, and vendor dispute issues.
- Training and testing on ERP system implementations and changes.
- Other responsibilities and duties as defined from time to time by the AP Manager.
- Research, analyze, and resolve complex accounts payable and vendor-related issues and internal/external inquiries that cannot be resolved by the payables clerks.
- Be relied upon as the main point of contact for resolving complex A/P-related issues, ensuring compliance with vendor-payment terms.
- Assist Accounts Payable Specialists daily with responsibilities to ensure adequate coverage and support for our internal and external customers.
Requirements
- 2+ years of related experience in Accounts Payable.
- Strong leadership with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
- Ability to remain engaged and focused. Excellent communication skills. Ability to problem-solve. Attention to detail and accuracy are a must.
- Proven data entry proficiency with attention to detail and strong typing skills.
- Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously under high pressure and within demanding time constraints.
- Discipline to assist in implementing and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- The ability to build trust and prove dependability.
- Aptitude to be cross-trained and contribute.
- Proficient in PC skills, accounting software, Internet-based programs, MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Must have substantial ERP AP system experience, SAP is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with employees, superiors, and customers.
- Strong analytical and time management skills.
- Aptitude to be cross-trained and contribute.
- Proficient in PC skills, accounting software, Internet-based programs, MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
