The Director of Credit & Collections is responsible for oversight of the Credit & Collections department which includes credit management, cash applications, billing administration, and collections.  The ideal candidate has a continuous improvement mindset and is a self-starter with tangible experience improving and maturing credit & collections policies, performance standards, and processes.  He / she can quickly build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across operations, sales, and finance teams needed to deliver Credit & Collections policy and process changes.


Essential Duties


  • Manage, coach, and grow, a team of approximately 22 credit and collections managers and analysts
  • Drive key performance indicators using dashboards recommended and approved. Establish strategies for continuous improvement of metrics and clarity of reporting
  • Develop an effective meeting and reporting rhythm with all management teams, holding both individual and group touchpoints
  • Serve as the ultimate point of escalation for all past due problem accounts, credit hold decisions, and customer disputes
  • Build relationships and develop report-out cadence with sales and plant management to drive effective dispute resolution and optimize customer focus
  • Manage bad debt reserve discussions and reporting recommendations
  • Develop and manage effective collection strategies, aiming to decrease DSO and increase cash flow
  • Prepare monthly accounts and customer aging reports for Oldcastle finance business partners
  • Respond to inquiries from customers, and research/resolve outstanding credit issues
  • Develop new credit policies and procedures aiming to mitigate risk and/or increase efficiency
  • Review A/R ledger and hold daily or weekly touchpoints to discuss problem accounts with team
  • Write credit correspondence, working with legal department as required
  • Own ultimate responsibility for all A/R collections and personnel in A/R and collections functions
  • Maintain bond and lien rights, always ensuring to minimize risk exposure of Oldcastle Infrastructure
  • Review and approve all lien waiver requests from customers
  • Perform analytical review and reporting within accounts receivable
  • Support ERP and technology upgrade projects related to credit, collections, and A/R as required
  • Other responsibilities and duties as defined from time to time




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of related experience in credit, accounts receivable, and collections
  • Prior Collections and A/R experience, including knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of lien laws
  • Prior experience with credit rating and risk scoring tools such as D&B
  • Prior experience with multiple ERP platforms or accounting systems a plus
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization, customers and vendors
  • Ability to maintain accuracy in a very detailed work environment, highly detail oriented
  • Proficient in PC skills, accounting software, Internet-based programs, MS Office Suite, especially Excel
