Position Overview

 

The Finance Intern supports the administration and financial planning, analysis, and budgeting for the Information Technology Department in both the US and Canada. Responsibilities include purchase order, receiving and invoicing support; month end financial close activities; support of monthly financial review activities; and support towards special projects as identified.

 

This is a part-time internship consisting of 20 hours per week, and will be based out of the CRH Americas Materials headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Provide timely and effective Purchase Order (PO) support to the IT department managers, ensuring proper coding to support financial reporting
  • Invoice receipting and exception processing
  • Reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data for various projects and/or invoicing
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts (ie: IT accruals, IT prepaids, Chargebacks with CRH CA
  • Assist in the preparation and support of monthly journal entries, accruals and reclass entries
  • Leverage the Apptio Technology Business Management (TBM) tool to identify significant expense variances to budget
  • Support Manager, IT Finance in creation of executive level presentation materials for use in financial reviews
  • Assist in development of user training materials for Apptio
  • Ad hoc reports and projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

 

  • University degree in progress with third year or higher standing in Finance, Accounting, or General Business Management.
  • Proficient competency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to sift through data, identify critical information, analyze, develop hypotheses and make recommendations
  • Strong presentation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, including results packaging and development presentations where required
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities to manage multiple project streams and complexity; propensity for thinking through projects in a process-oriented way required
  • Working experience with visualization technologies, particularly Tableau.

 

Work Requirements

 

  • Must be 18 years in age or older
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

 

  • Understanding of general accounting and finance principles
  • Strong problem-solving skills with proven ability to grasp new ideas and skills quickly
  • Ability to consistently drive self to achieve results
  • Must possess strong oral / written communication and listening skills
  • Flexible in conforming to shifting priorities and developing ad-hoc analysis
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented with respect to documentation and communication
