The Role

 

The Manager Data Architecture & Platforms position will partner with IT and business to support the continued growth and success of the enterprise in a robust and cohesive team. To be successful, the position will need to demonstrate both business acumen and technological insight to execute our global data strategy. The position works closely with Business Analysts, Technical Engineers and end-users around data architecture, MDM and our cloud platform design and management.  In addition to project work, this position will also manage Business as Usual (BAU) support for the existing environment.

 

Reporting within the Data & Analytics team, the role will be responsible for managing a team focused on data modeling, data architecture, data security and data quality globally across technology platforms and for managing the cloud platforms containing that data.  The right candidate will be able to seamlessly work across departments and work in matrix/agile project teams. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as overall data expert across all database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, NoSQL, etc) and can easily adapt to all data domains across the enterprise.
  • “Champion” data efforts around master data governance and raising the quality of data
  • Manage the team responsible for delivery of data architecture and the management of our cloud data platforms globally.
  • Use your technical experience to architect data solutions and use your management skills to build and grow a team of data engineers to advance our data strategy
  • Lead analysis of source systems, ensuring appropriate Data Profiling and Data Quality analysis is completed
  • Ongoing analysis of data requirements and ensuring the development of appropriate logical and physical data models for both relational and non-relational data structures
  • Develop and ensure compliance with data modeling best practices and standards
  • Manage the Metadata and Business Glossary for business/subject areas across the enterprise
  • Lead the team responsible for Data Management activities including optimizing physical database design for performance & performance tuning of existing data structures
  • Facilitating data governance and master data management teams/initiatives
  • Manage and participate in ongoing Business as Usual (BAU) support for the existing and future systems as needed

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
  • 10+ years’ experience as a data architect leading large scale data initiatives
  • 10+ years of experience architecting data warehouse platforms (DWH/EDW) including data design and modeling
  • 2+ years’ experience with Cloud-based database designs and implementations (Azure, Amazon, Google)
  • Expert-level hands on experience in data modeling; logical and physical in both OLTP, Dimensional and non-relational structures
  • “Expert-level” SQL (Structured Query Language) and data extraction skills – ability to extract and manipulate data from common data base systems (Oracle, SQL Server, Salesforce, SAP, etc.)
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with agile style project management techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to remain effective and productive in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build business relationships
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues from geographically distributed teams on all organizational levels.
