Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure and Operations, the Manager, Network and Communication Service Delivery is to plan, direct, and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of network and telecommunication systems to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s IT assets. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing hardware, software, and communication links. The Manager, Network and Communication Service Delivery will also schedule and direct the activities of a team of network and communication specialists and vendors to resolve end user hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.  This role will include core leadership responsibilities for the vendor management of the enterprises SDWAN, CCaaS/UCaaS platforms, including all managed service providers responsible for supporting the enterprises LAN, WAN, and VOIP platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) 

 

Strategy & Planning

 

  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements including SASE.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated plans for network resource administration.
  • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and developing core KPIs to track network performance and availability.
  • Communication of Network and Communication strategies and performance KPI’s to business for support and engagement.
  • Establish best practices and policies for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, related documentation, and license management processes.
  • Establish service level agreements with end users and develop relevant KPI reporting for communications back to stakeholders.
  • Strategy and plans for enabling AIOps for network and communications through automation and machine learning. 

 

Acquisition & Deployment

 

  • Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization’s network.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Assess, approve, and administer all equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.

 

Operational Management

 

  • Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network servers, hardware and software, including firewalls, routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, and so on.
  • Creation and management of vendor KPI’s to ensure performant services are delivered that meet or exceed business requirements.
  • Implement lifecycle management processes that ensure all network and communication services are efficiently maintained throughout their entire product lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent network and communication KPI’s.
  • Hire, direct, and administrate a contingent of network and communication specialists where necessary, support development plans, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer-related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of enterprise network administration.
  • Minimum of three years of responsible leadership experience in management or supervisory positions.
  • Cisco certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL best practices.

 

Work Requirements

 

  • Ability to travel up to 25% as required.

  • Strong understanding of IT Project Management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective teams through appropriate recruitment / selection, coaching and employee management.

  • Strong oral & written communication, listening and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and mindset.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The position will require work outside of normal business hours and managing a 24x7 infrastructure.
