Job Summary

 

We seek an experienced and forward-thinking Program Manager to spearhead the construction of a cutting-edge cement plant leveraging breakthrough technology developed by a start-up. The successful candidate will coordinate with coworkers to identify the plant's optimal site, manage the entire development process, and ensure the project meets pre-established milestones, timelines, and budget.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Project Evaluation & Development:

 

  • Lead the technical evaluation of the intended production process, working closely with R&D and engineering teams to assess feasibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and milestones.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure project tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary project team, fostering collaboration and effective communication.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders.

 

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

 

  • Work closely with R&D, operations, and external partners to drive the successful commercialization of the technology.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the start-up, internal teams, and senior leadership.

 

  • Scaling & Replication:

 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for scaling and replicating the production process across our global assets, ensuring alignment with sustainability and business goals.

 

  • Supply Chain Management:

 

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to secure necessary feedstock sources, establish supply chain logistics, and distribution.

 

  • Site Identification and Analysis:

 

  • Collaborate with coworkers and stakeholders to conduct thorough site assessments.
  • Evaluate potential locations based on environmental impact, logistical feasibility, and economic factors.
  • Select the most suitable site for the new cement plant.

 

  • Permitting and Regulatory Compliance:

 

  • Ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies and legal teams to navigate the permitting process efficiently.

 

  • Capital Project Management: Financing and Budget Management:

 

  • Manage multi-million-dollar capital project, overseeing budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Lead efforts to secure necessary investments for project execution and scaling.
  • Develop and manage detailed project budgets.
  • Secure financing through grants, debt, and equity sources.
  • Collaborate with financial institutions, investors, and grant agencies to ensure sufficient funding for project completion.

 

  • Risk Management:

 

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with technology scaling, ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with safety and environmental standards.
  • Monitor and address any issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.

 

  • Construction Management:

 

  • Oversee the entire construction process, including site preparation, foundation work, equipment installation, and plant commissioning.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to safety standards throughout the construction phase.

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field (e.g. Chemical, Industrial, Production).
  • MBA or master’s degree (preferably)
  • 8+ years relevant experience
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale capital projects from inception to completion, working across cross-functional teams with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with industrialization and the launch of R&D and innovation programs is required.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Excellent financial acumen and experience in securing project financing through various channels.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of permitting and regulatory requirements for industrial construction projects.
  • Experience in cement or building materials is highly desirable.
  • Understanding electrochemical processes and their industrial applications is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in supply chain management, especially in sourcing feedstocks and coordinating supply terminals.
