Job Summary

 

The GTS Senior Engineering Performance Manager will:

 

  • Support the delivery of optimal plant performance to achieve quality clinker and cement to meet customer expectations.
  • Challenge the businesses, particularly in terms of maintenance practices, electricity performance, and engineering solutions to improve plant reliability
  • Ensure that CRH production facilities are aware of world-class developments in the sector and are well placed to implement such developments effectively
  • Report to the Engineering Director and work cross-functionally within GTS to support Cement Operations achieve high performance.
  • Lead the delivery of Best Practices through Task Force leadership and working groups on High Opportunity Plants. He / She manages a team of 2 Taskforce Leaders and a Corporate Reliability Manager. 

 

Maintenance practices have been developed across the cement division and GTS will continue to strengthen this approach to deliver more reliable and sustainable plant performance.

 

Cement plants require specific engineering support on mechanical issues that they may not encounter very often. This is an excellent means of developing relationships with the plants and enabling the flow of information between the operations and GTS.

 

The role offers a unique development opportunity to:

 

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the Group’s global cement operations
  • Build a network of peer contacts across the group, and
  • Work with and develop contacts with outside experts for cement manufacturing

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the Maintenance and Electricity Task Forces to achieve:
  • World class performance levels in all cement plants
  • Promote and facilitate knowledge transfer among the Task Force community in CRH
  • Implementation of CRH’s policies
  • Advise, support and challenge the plant teams, with a particular focus on maintenance practices
  • Participate in CRHs Technical Management Team initiatives
  • Develop expert support solutions
  • Provide technical support to plants on mechanical technical issues and equipment replacement projects
  • Assure alignment of different stakeholders involved in clinker & Cement manufacture
  • Evaluate CAPEX projects, as required
  • Partake in Due Diligence activities as required
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

 

Job Requirements

  • Engineering degree with minimum 15 years’ experience in the cement industry
  • A strong understanding of cement maintenance practices, including maintenance organizational structures and systems to support the management of maintenance
  • Expert knowledge of cement
  • Candidate must be able to work on own initiative with strong attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and excellent communication skills are pre-requisite
  • Clarity on best practice in the cement industry
  • Awareness of current and future challenges to the cement sector
  • Experience in advising senior management
  • Experience of managing operational teams
  • Willing to travel abroad on a regular basis to support plants and build relationships
  • Experience working in different cultures will be an advantage
  • Excellent English language skill
