Position Overview

A Concrete Form Setter will be responsible for forming, placing, finishing concrete and following directions from supervisors and other skilled tradesmen.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Responsible for forming, bracing and securing structure forms
• Align plum forms
• Build forms for retaining walls, pipe and bridges
• Performs the setting of forms and securing with ground rods.
• Checks forms while concrete is being placed
• Assist and direct others in stripping forms after concrete is placed
• Spreads concrete to specified depth and workable consistency.
• Performs rough leveling and shaping of concrete surfaces.
• Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder, etc
• May assist other craft workers as needed
• Perform other labor related duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

• High school degree or equivalent
• Considerable Knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools, equipment, and processes used in concrete construction and maintenance
• Ability to perform duties and operation of equipment and tools in strict compliance with OSHA

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of safe work practices.
• Team orientation.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, hammering, rubbing, reaching, kneeling and squatting.
• Requires regular lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.

Work Environment

• Overtime work is required.
• Required to ride to and from the job site.
• May be exposed to extremes of hot and cold weather.
