Position Overview

The Billing Manager will oversee the Material Sales Billing Department for Pike Industries and Redimix Companies.  This person will provide support to the Controller by managing the material sales functions and performing a wide variety of accounting responsibilities.  The individual must maintain a high standard of confidentiality, be extremely organized and detail oriented.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Oversee the billing process for Pike Industries and Redimix companies.
  • Review and manage the twice-weekly invoicing and daily Redimix invoicing processes.
  • Review and approve employees’ daily work batches.
  • Assist with the training program for new hires and provide assistance as needed to meet the daily deadlines.
  • Manage yearly employee performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Must be proficient in Excel and have a thorough understanding of Viewpoint reports, Command, and Libra (POS) systems.
  • Adhere to all SOX guidelines and audit controls
  • Adhere to any and all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), other regulatory agency.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assist with the interviewing and hiring process as necessary.
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work for the material sales staff.
  • Willingness to develop subordinates’ technical and leadership skills and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate.

 

  • Provide management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
  • Appraising performance, including annual evaluations and new employee evaluations.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Lead by example.
  • Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Ability to follow directions.  Must be at the assigned job site and ready to work promptly at the scheduled time. 
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
  • Strict adherence to Pike policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • Associates degree preferred or related Accounting experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior administrative experience, strong keying skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

 

General Requirements

  • Ability to communicate sufficiently to be able to convey and exchange ideas, and to give and receive detailed verbal instructions.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Basic Accounting knowledge is preferable.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, as well as proficiency with MS Word and Excel are required.
