Position Overview:
This position encompasses a diverse set of accounting responsibilities along with the opportunity to grow. The desired candidate will possess a strong commitment to integrity, quality, efficiency, and collaboration. This role will report to the Director of General Accounting for the Midsouth Materials region and be responsible for a variety of accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and cost adjustments
- Provide audit support
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and external audit requirements
- Complete month-end duties in adherence to strict deadlines
- Prepare reports and ad-hoc analysis.
- Manage sales and use tax processes and filing for 6 states
- Assist with lease accounting
- Perform accurate, timely, and detailed account reconciliations
- Identify and drive process improvements for increased efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes and reporting
- Review journal entries for accuracy
- Partner across accounting and operations to provide financial reporting to support business decisions
- Other general accounting responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business. Equivalent experience considered.
- Advanced Excel skills
- Must be able to adapt to new systems and processes
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Self-motivated to deliver with a sense of urgency on priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, accounting staff, and field operations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Professionalism, initiative, commitment, and objectivity
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Experience with data analytics tools such as SQL, Tableau, or Power BI is a plus.
