Reports to: Production Supervisor
Pay: $26+

What you’ll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- To assist production employees by directing, coaching, supporting and delegating as the situation requires.
- To start, stop, and operate all Production Department equipment.
- To oversee all aspects of cement production, including the starting, stopping operation and optimization of all process equipment.
- To maintain the quality of products within specifications.
- To ensure environmental compliance.
- To coordinate Quarry, Packing/Shipping and Quality Control Laboratory Department activities in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
- To operate all process equipment at the highest production level within permitting limits.
- Informing/ Reporting- Providing spoken information about a problem/ issue. Reporting problems to supervisor. Giving instructions by radio or telephone. Contacting a manager or supervisor for authorization. Making a verbal report to a supervisor or manager. Briefing individuals on tasks or situations.
- The Control Room Operator daily shift tasks also include, but are not limited to:
- Directing the work of the Process Attendants.
- Coordinating First Aid care, accident investigation and/or reporting, and other emergency issues as needed.
- Completing all required departmental data logging and reports.
- Checking Objects, Work, Procedures- Checking equipment for correct operation. Checking equipment lube levels. Checking all materials are available for production processes. Checking and maintaining continuous material flows. Checking products for satisfactory production quality.
- Deciding- Deciding whether to refer a problem to a superior. Making quick decisions under time pressure. Deciding a course of action in conjunction with others. Deciding a course of action on own initiative. Making decisions after thorough evaluation.
- Controlling/ Directing/ Reviewing- Ensuring that safety precautions are observed and followed. Managing an unexpected situation. Directing action in emergencies. Following up with people to expedite work completion.
- Appraising/ Developing/ Learning- Learning new systems, methods or processes. Undertaking informal training or coaching. Keeping abreast of developments. Undertaking on the job training of others. Demonstrating procedures to help others.

- Collecting Information- Watching an operation or process to detect a problem. Noting danger or warning symbols. Noting unusual occurrences. Listening to verbal reports from subordinates. Listening to verbal instructions from superiors. Asking questions to establish information required.
- Using Keyboard Devices- Using a computer for information storage or retrieval. Using an alphanumeric keyboard other than for typing.

- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- High school graduation or equivalent is required
- 2 year/Associates degree is preferred
- Minimum 1 month of job related formal training is preferred
- Minimum 1 year of job related work experience is preferred
- Mechanical, welding, and machinist skills are preferred
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Willingness to learn, training will be provided
- Supervisory Responsibilities: To assist in the training of new employees in the skills and procedures required to
- perform a task.

- this position.

- Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee
- encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the
- employee will be exposed to the plant environment, which may include plant noise, dust and natural weather
- conditions. Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather,
- heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
- Physical Demands: Ability to climb ladders and maneuver in small spaces. Load and unload trucks; haul and hoist
- materials. Material handling and storage. Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor. Labor includes
- bending, stooping, and the ability to lift 75-pound bags and up to 75-pound boxes of refractory. The use of a 90-
- pound jackhammer may be necessary to complete some job requirements. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry
- objects.
What to expect in a cement environment:
Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
