Job Summary

 

The MES Application Support Engineer is a primary support role for the MES application suite. The applicant will respond to requests for assistance with system issues from operations at all plants.

 

In solving these requests, the applicant will have to understand how MES works, make modifications to system settings and database tables, as well as learning to make minor programming changes in some parts of the system.

 

The person in this role will be part of a team responsible for the development, implementation and support of the MES Application suite across the enterprise.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Actively participate on a technical project team, ensuring effective relationships are built and maintained with operations, master data, product development team and others to support manufacturing.
  • Provide first line daily support to manufacturing operations to maintain, and improve these systems, by responding to tickets.
  • Learn manufacturing processes, and MES system processes.
  • Support, maintain Seagull Bartender printing applications and related systems.
  • Support, and maintain MES applications, including system configurations, database settings, and application updates and settings.
  • Some application (C#) development.
  • SQL database queries, relations, and some stored procedure modification.
  • Mapping and updating manufacturing process, software architecture, and other diagrams in Lucid Charts.
  • Assist Manufacturing on the efficient use of MES; provide technical input to help troubleshoot issues during usage. Support end-users in MES navigation, Electronic Batch Record execution and general system utilization to ensure users become self-sufficient.
  • Train operations and other users as needed.  Develop training material.
  • Maintain server and client applications that support MES functions.
  • Travel to different BOL sites for implementation, troubleshooting, training, and support of the operations.
  • Promote a positive and safe working environment with a focus on accident prevention.
  • Any additional duties as reasonably requested by Management.

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Integrated Manufacturing disciplines or equivalent.
  • Experience working with MES in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Visual c#, Java or Visual Basic; SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Server OS, and Microsoft Windows OS.
  • Experience with Seagull Bartender a plus.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and leadership skills with a history of excellent task prioritization and time management.
  • Will be a motivated, self-starter.
  • Experience with GE Proficy Work Flow a plus.
  • Occasional after hours call answering and holiday coverage.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time.
