Summary

The duties for this position are to include transportation of heavy equipment to job sites. Delivering asphalt and stone to various locations. Laboring/Flagging on various crews.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The criteria for an evaluation in this position include but are not limited to the following:

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently by following proper loading and unloading procedures.
• The use of proper tie-down procedures on equipment according to Dot regulations.
• Operate various pieces of equipment.
• Deliver Asphalt and Stone to various locations.
• Also be able to do physical labor such as shovel, rake, flag, etc for various crews.
• Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers 
• Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment
• Follow direction of the Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor. 
• Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.

Other Requirements

The other requirements for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Must pass random drug screens.
• Must pass pre-employment physical exam, pre- employment-controlled substance testing, and criminal background check before being employed by Dolomite Products Company and/or Callanan Industries, Inc.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
• Report to work at the designated start time – Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required
• Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
• Be able to work overtime when required.
• Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
• Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Safety Manual

Personal Protective Equipment

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OHSA and/or MSHA.  Protective equipment that may be required includes hearing protection, a reflective vest, safety (leather steel toe) shoes, hard hat and eye protection.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities:

• Knowledge in operating various sizes of heavy construction equipment for loading and unloading purposes.
• Flagger certification
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• OSHA 10-hour certification is required.
• Have a current CDL A license is required.
• License Endorsements – Tank and Hazmat

Education and/or Experience

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Class A CDL driver
• Class A CDL

Communication and Language Skills

Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to comprehend and communicate to others the requirements of the technical specification, regulations, reports, and manuals.

Physical Demands

Walking several miles per day, occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and traveling over irregular terrain. Some tasks involve prolonged periods of standing and/or exposure to noise or weather, good motor coordination, finger dexterity, and color discrimination. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Capable of lifting heavy objects and equipment. All essential duties must be performed without posing a direct threat to their own, or others, health, and safety, with or without the use of reasonable accommodation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally very loud and may require protective equipment.
