The Human Resources Generalist provides support for day-to-day employee requests along with coordinating the implementation of policies, procedures, and programs for employees. The Generalist handles multiple functional HR areas including full life cycle recruiting for non-exempt employees, staffing logistics and onboarding, training and group events, procedure development and implementation, internal communications, and oversight for third-party partners related to hiring and affirmative action reporting. Serves as the ambassador of the company values, effectively communicates, organizes, and coordinates administrative functions.

 

 What you’ll be contributing:

 

Under general supervision work with confidential information which requires a high level of discretion, work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines, simultaneously handle multiple priorities, and drive multiple projects to successful completion. Work closely with supervisor to prioritize urgent and important tasks and refers all questionable items or problems to supervisor for guidance. 

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.

  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Schedules interviews, orientations, or training sessions.

  • Completes personnel transactions and maintains associated records.

  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of human resources forms or documents.

  • Answers basic employee questions about human resources policies or offerings.

  • Collect and analyze internal and external information in order to compare the organizations HR practices to those prevailing in the market.

  • Provides administrative support in full planning and coordination for training, employee events, annual meetings, and other related activities; meeting management and scheduling; supporting project teams and timelines; assisting with onsite drug testing.

  • Assists with internal communications. This includes written and visually appealing communications that are distributed through a variety of methods and adhere to various brand standards. These are digital signage, posters, email, SharePoint 365, and others as needed.

  • Assists with designing and delivering training when process improvements are made. This can be related to change management, new technology, and equipment, employee engagement, or other related topics as requested by Supervisor.

  • Maintain personnel files, medical files, I-9, and FMLA files for all terminated employees within CRH Americas Cement. This includes adherence to the records retention policy.

  • Attends professional and industry association meetings, educational workshops, seminars, etc. to remain current on new and upcoming ideas, practices, and procedures. 

 

To succeed in this position, you will need: 

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.

  • Minimum of 2-year degree in Human Resources or other business-related field

  • Minimum of five years of human resources experience

  • Exceptional organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills, in-person and written.

  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, employees and the public as needed.

  • Ability to research, analyze, and coach employees and management through complex situations.

  • Able to properly manage confidential information.

  • Travel up to 50% of the time.
