Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The basic responsibilities of the Ready-Mix Concrete Scheduler include, but not limited to the following.
- Schedule and confirm next day concrete orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Coordinate with customers to adjust truck demand to meet proper delivery rate.
- Notify Manager in event of over bookings, truck or plant problems.
- Move trucks to other plants for efficient production.
- Close Plants and reduce fleet size to maximize efficiencies.
- Track PTO request, vacations and sick leaves to avoid running short of personnel.
- Schedule drivers and create driver callouts for the next day.
- Communicate and document all customer service complaints, report to the Dispatch Manager.
- The job may require some late evenings and every other Saturday.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- High School Degree or General Education Degree (GED).
- Three to five years related customer service experience, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous dispatching, Customer Service experience and industry understanding preferred.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements.
- Basic computer skills for entering orders. Outlook, Word, Excel, Keyboard 25 + wpm.
- Extensive knowledge of Austin and surrounding areas.
- Ability to read and understand maps.
- Communicate effectively with a wide variety of customers and be an effective problem solver.
Language Skills:
Must read, write and speak English.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic math required – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Must be able to work up to 60 hrs. per week every other Saturday.
