Service Truck Driver
*Work for this position may be performed in SWVA and Upper East Tennessee.


Job Description Summary

Crew member essential to asphalt/milling crew for refilling equipment at work site as instructed by foreperson on highways/private roadways/parking lots/driveway work zones using multi-axle water truck.

 

Work Requirements

  • Employee essential in the mobilization of materials between facilities, job sites, and customers.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment
  • Preform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
  • Must keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Loading and unloading equipment.
  • Must partner with Superintendent/Project Manager to ensure daily schedules are met.
  • Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew can operate at normal efficiency level.
  • Physical ability to operate equipment and to transport material under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time. Normal shift is 8-12 hours.
  • Attitude/Cooperation: Must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, public.
  • Craftsmanship and ability to follow OSHA/MSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required. Out of town/county/state work may be required.
  • Ability to transport material with attention to detail and emphasis on safety.
  • Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completion.
  • Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in functional condition.
  • Must be able to check truck for maintenance needed and report deficiencies promptly.
  • Must pass drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass DOT pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical
  • CDL
  • Ability to follow Traffic Control Crew instructions and practice safety standards
  • Ability to assist in flagging operations as needed and instructed.
  • May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment
  • Must meet Driver Qualification Standard.

 

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to transport water and operate water truck with attention to detail and emphasis on safety.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail

 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Driving water truck and operating equipment associated with heavy highway/commercial work construction and schedules
  • May be required to use power and/or hand tools needed to complete jobs within specifications
  • Must be able to adapt and work in extreme weather temperatures
  • Job requires following motions: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, stretching, driving, sitting, shifting gears, pulling, lifting, and squatting
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. for repetitious lifting occasionally while using proper lifting techniques.

 

Work Environment

  • Will be exposed to extremes of heat or cold weather.

 

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Must possess Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and necessary endorsements. When hauling certain vehicles, may be required to have hazardous materials and tank endorsements.
