Position Overview
The Asphalt Materials Manager is responsible for ensuring the consistent supply of materials to support asphalt plant production while optimizing logistics and maintaining efficiency in material movement.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate timely and accurate delivery of aggregates to asphalt plants to support production needs.
- Monitor and optimize asphalt plant material inventory levels to prevent shortages and overages.
- Partner internally and externally to manage acquisition, processing, transportation and stockpiling of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) across Shelly Southern’s market.
- Collaborate with asphalt plant operations, sales and QC teams to ensure customer service and product quality needs are met, and daily production schedules are aligned with plant capabilities and capacities.
- Review material inventory reports, support the periodic material inventory review process.
- Conduct analytical reviews of long-term schedules (internal/external) to develop demand forecasts for HMA inputs.
- Utilize strong analytical and forecasting abilities to ensure accurate demand planning and scheduling.
- Leverage technology to develop and automate feedback reports for continuous improvement.
- Provide support to asphalt plants to ensure optimum stock-yard conditions are maintained.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations affecting asphalt plant production, safety environmental, state, federal, and company policies; ensure observance of such regulations; and ensure compliance with all regulations and permit conditions.

- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.

- Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
- Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. This role will also include opportunities to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Solid problem-solving ability required.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school preferred; or two to four years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Personal Protective Equipment
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, use of Seatbelt and harnesses when required.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but may require protective equipment. The employee will be continuously work with others. The employee will occasionally work in hot, cold, wet weather. They might occasionally be exposed to noise and moving equipment.
