Purchasing Coordinator


Administers manufacturing plant purchase orders to meet scheduling requirements. Purchases consumables to meet production requirements.  Position coordinates with post-production vendors and submits and approves purchase orders to maximize plant efficiency and reduction of lead times.




  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices for post-production vendors (Heat Treat and Galvanization)
  • Review purchase order detail for accuracy
  • Assist Accounting department in verifying pricing and receipts of purchased products
  • Contact suppliers on adjustments, incorrect materials/supplies, delivery delays, etc.
  • Schedule delivery dates and ensure freight payment terms are accurate
  • Receive purchase orders into the company ERP (Microsoft AX) in a timely manner
  • Determine optimal volumes of consumables based on historical usage and current level in stock
  • Consult departments involved when substitutions may be advantageous for the company
  • Update ERP pricing where applicable
  • Monitor standard costs against items received to maintain accuracy
  • Match vendor invoices to shipping document
  • Monitor payment on vendor accounts
  • Maximize all vendor discount programs
  • Maintain all vendor purchasing files
  • Monitor PPV reports to ensure accuracy
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed


Job Qualifications


  • 2+ years’ experience in the manufacturing industry and purchasing experience preferred
  • Experience working within an enterprise level ERP system, preferred Microsoft AX
  • Must be able to work in a schedule-driven environment.  Timing and follow up is a critical function. 
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detailed oriented and possess strong organization skills
  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with management, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company
  • Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Computer literate with experience with Microsoft Office software (excel proficiency required)


Work Schedule


  • Monday - Friday
  • 8 hour shift
  • Overtime may be required based on business needs.


Physical Requirements


  • Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time.
  • Speak and listen to others in person, video conference and over the phone.
  • Use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports.
  • May be required to work in a non-climate controlled manufacturing facility. 
  • Lift up to 15 lbs
