PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete responsibility for selling of construction materials in the market area as referenced above including development of new customer leads, fulfillment of orders, value added selling, collections and market intelligence.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Sales/Marketing
- Comprehensive sales and marketing of P.J. Keating asphalt and aggregates to all end users. Customer base includes private general and site contactors, municipalities, commercial businesses and various agencies within the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
- Being the face of PJK with our customers and spending a majority of the time in the field strengthening those relationships, closing sales and prospecting for new leads.
- Maintenance of the company CRM tool, Follow up on all sales/quotes in a timely basis.
- Keep fully abreast of the current marketing conditions and the activities of competitors.
- Develop and strengthen relations with our existing FOB asphalt and aggregate customers.
- Development of new customers
- Strive to provide "world class customer service" to all clients.
Administrative
- Utilization of Salesforce.com/Construct Connect as the primary sales tools for all leads, quotations, contracts and account management.
- Prepare required paperwork, including, quotes, bid documents, contracts, subcontracts, sales reports/information requests etc. accurately and on a timely basis.
- Review/Update monthly backlogs.
- Continuously review aging and address delinquent customers in coordination with our Credit Department.
- Consistently visit our production sites and develop strategies to address operational challenges i.e. slow-moving inventories, inventory shortages, moving waste products, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities.
- 4 year degree or equivalent work experience.
- General understanding of sales and marketing fundamentals
- Strong P.C. skills required, primarily web-based applications, Sales Force and Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Must have good written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Math Competency is required.
- Knowledge of the construction industry a plus.
- Active Drivers License
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as job specifications, bid documents, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA and state agencies. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Hardhat, safety glasses, safety vest, ear plugs and reinforced toed shoes for any work in the field.
