Position Overview

P.J. Keating Company has an opening for an experienced Welder in our Cranston, RI HMA Plant.  As a Welder, the selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers.  Our core values are safety, quality and integrity in everything we do.  All P.J. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Safely and efficiently work in a utility and maintenance capacity and report any problems to the manager in a timely fashion.
  • Understands and applies safe use and operation of the equipment and communicates with other employees about safety related matters.
  • Performs all functions in a safe manner in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weld-able material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
  • Fits and welds product to specifications.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. 
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.

  • Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum 1 year of welding experience
  • Past fabrication experience (STICK)
  • Previous aggregate experience preferred 


Work Requirements

  • Display a professional attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. 
  • General knowledge of plant maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision. 
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to read a part print to weld basic products using GNAW
  • Fork lift operation to assist production as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of welding concepts, procedures, and practices.
  • Should be able to set amperage, volts and wire speed as required based on material thickness, position, etc.
  • Should be able to use cutting torch and know what tip is required for various thicknesses.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding.
  • Valid driver’s license.
