Position Overview

 

The Accounting Manager provides leadership of the CYD finance functions in accordance with CRH reporting standards, and partners with the OpCo President to lend analytical leadership to the business.  The Accounting Manager will support CYD’s Mining and Aggregate Distribution operations and have the primary responsibilities of financial leadership and effectively communicating and implementing policies and practices. The Accounting Manager will provide leadership and direction to finance and guide the team in problem resolution.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Responsible for financial systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, and managing accounting staff.
  • Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting, preparing an annual budget, analyzing variances, and collaborates with operations for corrective actions.
  • Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; and preparing special reports.
  • Maintains accounting controls by defining accounting policies and procedures including SOX controls for accounting staff and operations as needed.
  • Responsible for all month end reporting.
  • Maintains all leases both land and rail related equipment as outline by lease accounting IFRS16.
  • Works with company president to prepare necessary documents for review of lease expirations and renegotiation.
  • Coordinate capex requests submissions and report on progress of approved projects on a monthly basis.
  • Accomplishes accounting human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, arranging for training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. 
  • A minimum of five years managerial/leadership experience in a finance role leading a team of finance professionals.
  • Manufacturing and/or construction background along with multi-unit operations highly desired.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.

Work Requirements

 

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per company policy.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.

 

Additional Requirements

 

  • Travel 25%.
