Position Overview

The Controller is responsible for the following functions, but not limited to, directing the financial affairs of the Company and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and monthly reports for the guidance of management.  The Controller is also responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, accounting practices, maintenance of fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. 


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Recommend, lead and/or assist with new efforts to improve operational and financial performance.
  • Work with operations on financial analysis, CAPEX requests, and monthly forecasts.
  • Lead and develop accounting staff while maintaining good working relationships with managers from all lines of business.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Manage receivables on a day-to-day basis. Direct and supervise functions of receivables on payments, collections, and weekly AR meetings.
  • Prepare/review balance sheet accounts monthly to confirm proper reconciliation and supporting backup.
  • Conduct analysis/review of P&L accounts to support the month end process along with cost analysis and evaluation.
  • Work on ad hoc projects as directed.
  • Develop detailed financial planning and analysis reports and work in unison with the company’s leadership team to execute on decision making with an emphasis on performance improvement.
  • Assist in development and execution of the five-year strategic plan utilizing market-driven data for commercial and residential markets. 
  • Assist the Region CFO in the annual budget cycle. Coordinate with department managers on expense budgets, perform variance analysis of submitted budgets, and create the balance sheet and cash flow statements required for the group budget package. 
  • Compile management reports to help support operations with daily and weekly results.
  • Assist Corporate Controller and Director of Compliance with both external and internal audits for both SOX and financial audits.
  • Ensure SOX compliance and adhere to internal controls.
  • Other duties as may be assigned. 



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, statistics or math-related area of study
  • 3-5 years of progressive financial accounting experience working with all aspects of financial accounting and cash flow management.


Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Colorado area
  • Strong oral and written communications and problem-solving skills.
  • Must display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must have the ability to work without close supervision.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.
  • Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to computers, copiers, ten key adding machine, printers, etc.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Word applications required.
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Solid financial accounting principles and working knowledge of cost accounting in a construction environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Advanced typing skills.
