Position Overview

Reporting to the VP Operational Excellence, the Aggregates Performance Manager will be responsible for providing operational performance management and continuous improvement support of AMAT’S West Division Aggregates performance processes and systems. This includes collaborating with the CRH Aggregates Global Domain Team, the Aggregates Performance SteerCo, the Aggregates Division Performance Committees, West Division operating companies, and industry associations to provide the business with the tools, resources, project oversight and training to deploy our performance systems effectively.

 

Location: This position can be based out of any location in the West Division where we have operations present.
Salary: $120,000-$150,000 base with 15%-20% bonus.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Lead the consistent deployment, development, communication, execution, and sustainability of the West Division’s performance systems in demand forecasting, operational effectiveness, and fixed plant asset management through training, observation, and mentoring
  • Work with regional leadership teams and local aggregates champions to recognize internal and external opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them through innovation and leading practice sharing
  • Support OpEx capability assessments of aggregates teams, leaders, processes, market strategies to be used for coaching and to develop & implement site specific action plans
  • Collaborate with the Aggregates Performance SteerCo which consists of various aggregates leaders from AMAT to develop, train and execute on the performance systems
  • Partner with Performance teams (National, Division, Regional), Global Domains and OpCo leadership to develop and execute short- and long-term action plans, promoting continuous improvement across the West Division aggregate LOB
  • Work with national trade associations, public agencies, and community stakeholders to stay abreast of emerging trends/legislation and influence development of their strategic plans or regulations to support division goals and objectives
  • Engage with teams and individuals to ensure stakeholders have ownership in solutions and action plans 
  • Drive results in a highly decentralized organization through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training, coaching, and group facilitation skills, identifying and mentoring talent across AMAT
  • Regularly assess data through dashboards, scorecards and other tools to identify OpCos that are underperforming and require support
  • Identify and/or implement tracking tools to maintain visibility and accountability
  • Travel to OpCos to perform site assessments, evaluate support needs, provide training, etc. as needed
  • Assist Director of Capital and Special Projects to manage CapEx initiatives as needed
  • Engage with division sustainability lead to better understand how sustainability initiatives apply to the aggregates line of business
  • Work on ad hoc projects as directed

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in the building materials industry
  • Five (5) or more years of experience focused on aggregates

 

 Work Requirements

  • Average travel is 50% with times of up to 75%
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls.
  • Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear
  • May require standing for extended periods of time
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to hold weights of 5-10lbs in a stretched arm position for extended periods of time
  • Able to climb ladders or stairs and to work at heights
  • Able to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time

 

Work Environment

Normal office working conditions in addition to industrial plant sites and quarries, requiring the usage of personal protective equipment, e.g. hard hat, steel-toed boots, and safety glasses.

  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to drive up to 8 hours for onsite services and meetings.
  • The position may require work outside of normal business hours in response to critical incidents or business-impacting project deliverables.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock or burn.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud but is typically moderate.
