Position Description

 

This is a skilled position supporting estimators, project managers, engineers, BIM modelers, etc. As part of the Construction Technologies department a common day will consist of receiving instruction from others within that team including VDC Coordinators, Surveyors and the others whom they support.

Being a support role, it is common to have tasks assigned that vary in scope ranging from basic to technical, the skills required to complete these tasks will be developed on the job.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Maintaining and sharing department schedule
  • Creating equipment utilization reports
  • Maintaining UAV requests and reports
  • Receive requests/directions via VDC Coordinators, Surveyors, Superintendents, Contract Admin’s, Forepersons, etc. 
  • Participate with in-field tasks as needed
  • Begin learning design and modeling software
  • Begin learning construction technologies (from field and to field)
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and the equivalent of two years of college credit and registering for junior year. Topics of study do not need to be aligned with construction management, survey technology or related fields.

 

 Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write clearly and effectively.    

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instruction.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.

 

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have (or be able to quickly gain) knowledge of Internet software, Excel, Word, Outlook, and other company related programs.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Drivers License 

 

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand technical drawings and plans
  • Ability to create verifiable reports for pursuit, progress and payment
  • Ability to create exhibits from digital delivery workspace
  • UAV Part 107 License is a plus

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50 lbs.

 

 Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is rarely exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
