Position Overview
Operates a front-end loader to ensure proper supply of materials to the asphalt plant, trucks, and other assigned areas.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Ensure the necessary supply of materials for asphalt plants is available.
- Utilize a loader to transport materials to and from storage and processing areas.
- Load trucks with proper materials and weight for delivery.
- Inspect equipment prior to operation for any safety or maintenance issues.
- Perform routine maintenance on the loader such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of plant premises including but not limited to assisting with plant maintenance, shoveling, and ground cleanup.
- Assist with general labor at the plant site.
- Regular, timely attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- 1-3 Years of experience as a loader operator or other heavy equipment operation preferred.
Work Requirements
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- Report to work dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and/or criminal background check.
- Report to the work dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and by OSHA and/or MSHA.
- Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated production areas. Compliance with PPE requirements is essential.

- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing, rotating of the neck and shoulders.
- Frequent sitting and operating heavy equipment/loader.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to manipulate or feel; reach with hands and arms; twist at the waist, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen.
Work Environment
Employees are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals; The risk of electrical shock or burn and working at heights. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
