Position Summary
 
The EH&S Manager will be responsible for the environmental, occupational health, safety, and loss control management of our plant facilities, in alignment with the Oldcastle National Platform for Environmental, Health and Safety management. This position will work closely with all levels of management and hourly employees to ensure safety and health work standards and methodologies are communicated and targeted goals are achieved through individual as well as team based objectives and strategies. 

 

The EH&S Manager will ensure implementation and continuous improvement of safety and health processes and systems consistent with Oldcastle policies and performance standards as well as compliance with applicable regulations. This person will also serve as a catalyst and expert resource to promote and develop an innovative and proactive safety culture within each organization. 

 

Responsibilities/Essential Duties/The Role/Key Accountabilities

 

  • Develops, manages, and implements all safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety-related regulations, in addition to environmental health, safety, and loss prevention standards and guidelines
  • Provide expertise for local management regarding safety and health issues and applicable regulations
  • Advise and assist local management in implementing, managing and auditing within the framework of an innovative Health and Safety Management Systems in a manufacturing and construction setting
  • Lead as an action figure in shifting our safety culture from rules and regulatory compliance to a safety culture developed as a behavior driven value at all levels of the organization
  • Conducts risk assessments and evaluates risk management information to identify potential safety and environmental hazards, impacts, then identifies and recommends corrective and preventive actions
  • Performs root cause analysis and investigates mishaps, and all other safety and environmental incidents
  • Performs safety audits and regular physical inspections of grounds, buildings, equipment, and operations then identifies hazards and incidents of regulatory non-compliance and recommends corrective measures
  • Resolves and/or escalates all safety and environmental issues in a timely fashion
  • Prove oversight expertise for incident investigations, development of corrective plans and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure timely reporting and claims management for workers compensation, general liability and automotive liability
  • Coordinate health and industrial hygiene monitoring with risk management insurance provider
  • Partner with the Corporate Social Responsibility Group in determining strategic national initiatives and developing policies/procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental or equivalent field
  • Previous experience in the construction materials, manufacturing and/or PVC industry is required
  • 3+ years’ EH&S experience 
  • Expert knowledge of applicable OSHA and EPA standards and regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form
  • High level of computer proficiency in MS Office products
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred

 

Compensation

 

  • $105,000-115,000 yearly salary
