Position Overview

Supervise and staff the operations and maintenance of all aggregate plants. Work closely with all management teams to achieve the financial goals for the Columbia Basin.  Work closely with all plant foremen to make sure that aggregates are being produced to specification and that proper inventory levels are being maintained. This role may be a good fit for individuals with a construction/supervisory background that are looking to grow in their career.

 

Location: This role may be based out of Yakima, Tri-Cities, or Wenatchee areas. Location will be discussed with each candidate on a case-by-case basis.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)                                                                                                                    

  1. Oversee proper staffing of the aggregate plants. Ensure that the plant’s production equipment is properly maintained, both as to preventative maintenance and repairs. Keep the plants clean, secure, environmentally legal and exemplary. Monitor safety to ensure that we are operating safely, that employees are properly trained, and we are conforming to the company safety program.           
  2. Work with the Aggregate management team and assist with the proper staffing of the aggregate plants. Help ensure the aggregate plants are clean, secure, environmentally legal and exemplary. Ensure conformance with MSHA regulations and inspections. Assure that all gradation and other aggregate tests are run in conformance with Columbia Basin quality control standards.
  3. Be a leader and example in implementing the Corporate Safety Policy and all personnel policies.                                                                                              
  4. Work closely with the sale team to assure that the sales efforts provide our customers with a superior quality product with excellent service while maintaining the highest ethical standards. Foster the acquisition and maintenance of long-term customers.           
  5. Assist the Equipment Manager with equipment sharing, cleanliness, proper maintenance is being performed and that all equipment is safe. 
  6. Advise the management team of required or anticipated future capital expenditures for the next five years.  Participate with the budget process.  Manage within the yearly budget targets (i.e., reviewing/analyzing monthly financial statements).              
  7. Continued interaction with all hourly and non-hourly personnel.
  8. Assure implementation of accurate cost accounting procedures, i.e., timecards, production records, purchase orders and inventory.
  9. All other duties assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years construction, aggregate plant operations and/or supervisor experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Will be subject to drug testing, medical exams and physical agility testing.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Supervisory skills.
  • The basics of aggregate plant screening and gradation testing.
  • Electronics and electricity, mechanics, welding and equipment set-up and operations. 
  • Ability to influence people to work enthusiastically towards goals and performance targets by effectively providing necessary coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
  • Ability to lead and manage change through continuous performance improvement in employee development, quality, safety, and production.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write correspondence.    
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software ( Microsoft word and Excel).
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
