The role of the Portable Plant Operator is a critical and foundational role in our structure. The Portable Plant Operator is responsible for the supervision and for the day-to-day activities at the plant location, set up, take down and moving of locations as well as overall maintenance of the plant operating within the framework of established policies and procedures. This position is responsible for the safe, effective and efficient operation of the plant. The Portable Plant Operator provides leadership to ensure good morale and employee relations at the plant while facilitating communication between the Customers, Drivers, other Management and Distribution with accuracy and timeliness.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

•    Set up and take down of plant.
•    Prepare plant for batching.
•    Prepare plant for transportation.
•    Monitor inventory levels of raw materials (cement, aggregates, admixtures) and coordinate deliveries.
•    Ensure environmental compliance, including proper handling of waste materials, dust control, and spill prevention measures.
•    Keep accurate records of plant performance, maintenance logs, and daily production reports.
•    Train and mentor junior employees or backup operators as needed.
•    Lead by example by maintaining a strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to safety.
•    Effectively communicate with drivers, customers, and management to ensure smooth operations.
•    Proactively identify and resolve issues at the plant, escalating concerns when necessary.
•    Foster a positive work environment by supporting teamwork, morale, and employee engagement.
•    Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols.
•    Take ownership of plant operations, making informed decisions to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
•    Daily and Weekly plant inspection


Requirements:

•    Highschool diploma or equivalent.
•    Must be available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
•    Must be punctual and reliable, ensuring the plant is operational on schedule.
•    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks that require standing, bending, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
•    Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including working at heights or confined spaces as needed
•    Strong understanding of plant mechanical systems, including conveyors and pumps.
•    Ability to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs.
•    Hands-on experience with performing basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to minimize downtime.
•    Must possess a valid ‘G’ driver’s license.
