Logistics Manager- NETG

Summary

 

The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of logistics coordinators scheduling both fleet and third-party shipments for manufacturing plants & distribution yards between multiple divisions in Northeast & Mid Atlantic (VA, MD, PA, NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA, NH, ME). This position supervises group optimizing and planning shipments on available fleet and haulers to provide best in class customer service and reduce costs.

 

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the team scheduling day-to-day fleet routes and third-party deliveries.
  • Evaluate shipment plans to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain and communicate any issues that may affect on-time delivery.
  • Utilize various dashboards to find continual, seasonal, and niche opportunities.
  • Lead on Oracle Transportation Management software with IT delivery services group on updates to carrier assignment routing, optimization, rating accuracy, scheduling, and equipment requirements.
  • Coordinate with team members in various departments across multiple sites in the northeast.
  • Train and serve as lead for transportation system training for entire team.
  • Coordinate on daily basis with fleet managers on any fleet related routing/execution items.
  • Track and report existing opportunities as well as captured savings.
  • Provide weekly updates for management across multiple divisions.
  • Coordinate with ops, sales, and customer service to prioritize customer experience and help solve system/process issues.
  • Source additional carriers, rates, and upload to system as needed.
  • Perform analyses on transportation network utilization/opportunities.

 

Requirements / Education / Experience
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related concentration preferred.  Equivalent in experience, training, or education acceptable.
  • 2 plus years of experience in logistics or transportation required.
  • Planning experience in Oracle Transportation Management preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with strong prioritization and time management skills; must be able to work within tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to prepare and analyze data, communicate electronically, and assist in the preparation of documents and presentations.
  • Willingness to learn various programs and software to enable scalability and ability to create efficiencies across functions.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

 

Work Environment

 

  • Generally, works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting.
  • Office environment with site visits to manufacturing locations.
  • May require availability outside normal business hours.
  • Travel required up to 20%.
