Position Overview

 

Driver Coach primary responsibility is to implement training programs and procedures (as needed) designed to prepare new and current Professional Concrete Delivery Drivers to perform their job duties safely and efficiently. While maintaining a positive attitude, fostering teamwork, and overall safety of yourself and others.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Ensure Health and Safety standards are met by complying with legislation, company policies and promoting a safe work environment.

  • Train and help new/current Professional Concrete Delivery Drivers develop competence and confidence in the following areas:

    • Awareness and Adherence to Company Policies & Procedures

    • Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance

    • Safe Operation of Equipment

    • Knowledge of Our Products

    • Efficient and Courteous Delivery of Products

    • Maintaining a Safe and Positive Work Environment

  • Evaluate and provide effective and immediate feedback (positive or negative) to new mixer drivers in training.

  • Complete daily progress reports on driver trainee progress based on a defined set of criteria.

  • Develop a Performance Plan for new mixer drivers as they transition to their assigned plants.

  • Assist in ongoing safety training and coaching of existing mixer drivers.

  • Always represent the company in a positive manner.

  • Jobsite Customer service as requested for any pour over 100 cubic yards or more.

  • Responsible for Jobsite Safety check prior to the pour.

  • Responsible for ensuring the pour is directed in a safe manner.

  • Responsible for interactions with the customer for ordering more concrete, slowing or speeding up the pour, or any other concerns that are addressed.

  • Lead all Drivers by setting example of safety.

  • Ensure all Drivers are working & driving safely.

  • Answering questions regarding PPE safety and use.

  • Deliver PPE to those who need it.

  • PMI Plant safety checks.

  • Leading Quarterly Safety Meetings.

  • Develop safety topics for quarterly safety meetings.

  • Attend and develop safety topics for Tailgate meetings.

  • May perform other related duties as required or directed.

 

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to Preferred Materials Inc. guidelines. 

 

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Class A or B CDL and a clean driving record required. 

  • Ability to operate in a training capacity all classes of LRC delivery equipment including straight trucks, truck and pup combination, and tractor trailer combination equipment.

 

 Work Requirements

  • Must possess a valid and current Florida Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License or equivalent.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check and driving record review.

  • Must be willing to work flexible schedule including: nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in The United States.

  • Must be able to drive a manual & automatic transmission.

  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.

  • Regular and timely attendance is required.

  • Regularly climb up and down into or out of the cab of the vehicle, and climb up and down the rear ladder or rear access point of the vehicle during loading, unloading and/or vehicle wash down.

  • Stand for long periods of time performing loading and offloading of materials in hot weather or current conditions.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs with specific experience using PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence. 

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be conducted by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Climbing up onto and down off of trucks, forklifts, stairs or other fixed or mobile equipment on a regular basis. Requires the use of all hand and foot holds to mount and dismount. Must be able to climb without limitation or restriction.

  • Operation of directional, speed, and operational controls on all trucks and equipment operated.

  • Must be able to work shoveling materials on an infrequent basis.
